The values program “Kids with character – Identity”

Background

(All programs are available in English & Afrikaans)

In the first part of the series, “Children with Character” (Kids with Character – Love), we focused on 9 of the essential characteristics of childhood development: Love, patience, compassion, humility, kindness, honesty, self-control, forgiveness and respect.

In the second part of the series (Kids with Character – Identity), we will focus on the next 8 characteristics.

The Kids with Character – Identity programme will be implemented in collaboration with the reaching staff, Governing Body/Directorate and parents, who would like to re-establish children’s identification in God, including their personal identity, how they see themselves, and what their purpose in life is.

The point of departure is to understand more about our identity in Christ, and not to lose sight of who we are destined to be. God created humans to have unique characteristics and a unique sense of purpose. However, he also designed us to find contentment with our lives through His will. Identity is often shaped by our early experiences in life, and so it is essential that we offer guidance during these formative years.

Goal:

Every month or quarter, a new value is focused on, and the children will be constantly motivated to apply this value to their daily lives, and to make these values part of their way of life. The aim is to have the same value taught at any given presentation, so that it may be used in the assemblies or during guardian periods at home.

For the programmes to be successful, we need every parent and teacher’s help, but there will be no additional burden placed on them
